Intercollegiate Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons Part B OSCE


Overview

The MRCS examination is an intercollegiate examination run jointly with the other Colleges of Surgeons in Great Britain and Ireland.

Award of the Diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons indicates that a candidate has enhanced his or her knowledge, understanding, experience and clinical competence well beyond primary qualification level.

Membership of the College

Membership is open to surgeons who have passed all parts of the Intercollegiate Membership examination and meet the criteria set out in the Regulations. Candidates will be eligible for election as a Member of the College with which they successfully complete Part B of the examination. In joining us, you will be part of a growing membership committed to ensuring high standards of surgical practice through assessment and continuing professional development.

Important

  • Candidates who wish to apply to sit the MRCS Part B examination internationally through the Glasgow College can do so at centres hosted by our partner Colleges. Please contact us at mrcsosce@rcpsg.ac.uk and we can advise of opportunities available to you.
  • The College may either cancel an examination centre if there are insufficient candidates or restrict numbers should this be necessary.
  • Fees are correct at the time of publication: the College may amend these fees in advance of the opening date.
  • In the unlikely event that the College has to cancel an examination, the examination fee shall be reimbursed, but the College shall incur no further liability.
  • In Glasgow, the OSCE will be held at Hampden National Stadium.

In the event of candidate numbers being too great to facilitate the completion of the examination within the specified period. The Royal Colleges of UK and Ireland, with prior agreement of the ICBSE reserve the right to make alternative arrangements and extend the time announced for the examinations within reasonable limits.
